About Digpu

DIGPU, short for Digital Interface Group of Publishers, is a global network of digital news publishers, journalists, bloggers, and storytellers. Founded in December 2018, DIGPU emerged as a powerful response to the growing crisis of job loss among grassroots journalists in India. While mainstream media houses were investing in plush studios, countless honest reporters were left without work — some forced to abandon their careers, others starting digital channels with limited resources and no technical support.
Our mission was clear from the beginning: Support true journalism and build a sustainable bridge between content creators and businesses that deserve visibility. From just an idea in 2018, DIGPU has now transformed into a globally recognized news content distribution agency with a footprint in over 16 countries and 7 languages.

The spark that lit the fire began in September 2018 when our founder spoke to a senior journalist in Kolkata who had just lost his job. That conversation revealed a grim reality—thousands of journalists were laid off by major media houses like Amar Ujala, Dainik Bhaskar, and Hindustan Times between 2019 and 2021. Many of these journalists turned to digital publishing out of desperation but lacked technical support, revenue models, or access to sustainable journalism tools.
We responded with a Facebook campaign promoting a new revenue model for small and regional publishers. Within hours, we received over 600+ inquiries — a sign that India’s digital journalism ecosystem was crying out for change.

What Makes DIGPU Different?

DIGPU didn’t just offer support — we built a new ecosystem. We:

  • Developed websites and infrastructure for independent journalists
  • Offered a new, sustainable revenue model connecting MSMEs and startups to publishers
  • Helped journalists maintain editorial independence without compromising integrity

By 2025, what began as a grassroots initiative has now become a multi-million-dollar digital PR and content distribution industry. Our clients and content partners now include some of the world’s leading publishers — Hindustan Times, Network18, Indian Express, Forbes, and more.
